For years, Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s designs have dazzled the Met Gala stage, but this year, he stepped onto the iconic red carpet himself, marking a historic moment. As the first Indian fashion designer to grace the Met Gala, Sabyasachi’s presence was eagerly awaited, given his renowned craftsmanship and dedication to Indian culture. This groundbreaking event not only showcased his talent but also solidified his status as a trailblazer in the fashion world.

For his Met Gala debut, Sabyasachi chose an impeccably stylish ensemble from his esteemed Sabyasachi Resort 2024 collection, making a bold statement with an embroidered cotton duster coat. Paired with a crisp white shirt and tailored beige pants, he struck the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. Accessorizing with a selection of tourmaline, pearls, emeralds, and diamonds from the Sabyasachi High Jewellery line, along with a matching belt, stylish sunglasses, and sleek brown loafers, Sabyasachi exuded undeniable style.

As he shared snapshots of his ensemble on Instagram, fans showered him with applause, praising his iconic moment. Comments flooded in, with one user raving about the “royal look,” while another admired the “Modern Maharaja vibe.”

Joining the celebration of craftsmanship, Alia Bhatt graced the event in a breathtaking saree crafted by Sabyasachi himself. The custom-made ensemble featured an extravagant train adorned with hand-embroidered silk floss, sequins, beads, and semi-precious stones, accentuated by delicate fringes of glass beads. Her hand-crafted blouse, embellished with emeralds, Basra pearls, tourmaline, and multicolored sapphires, added to the ensemble’s opulence.
